  About the CET Training Department:
 
The Clinical Enterprise Technologies Training Department is a dedicated team of training professionals, committed to providing quality adult education and technical training to the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.  Our training team has a combined experience base of technology training, adult learning, and clinical expertise that includes over 80 years of knowledge. 

The Training Department works together with our support services teams and departments to provide healthcare computer applications training that allow our clinicians, allied health professional and staff to:

  • Deliver high-quality safe patient care,
  • Maintain accurate patient level information,
  • Scheduling of appropriate care delivery resources,
  • Manage on-going delivery of patient care for inpatient and outpatient settings,
  • Record and process patient's clinical information and orders,
  • Document and review test results and patient care visits,
  • Provide comprehensive and standardized information regarding risks and benefits of proposed medical procedures or treatments,
  • Handle the business, billing and reimbursement transactions,
  • Manage the human resource performance review process,
  • Manage budgeting, planning and financial reporting,
  • Record staff time and attendance.
 
 
 
  The CET Training Department directly supports applications that our business, clinical, health information and research customers use during their normal workday in the delivery of patient care, research or the processing of patient information and reimbursement transactions.  In addition to developing training curriculum and providing training services, we actively participate in new implementation projects, system upgrades, enhancements and production support.

The CET Training Department’s goal is to provide our customers an optimal learning experience and an opportunity to apply what they have learned immediately within the context of their jobs.

The CET Training Department offers technical training on the following business and clinical solutions:
  • GE-IDX System
  • UM RIS/PACS
  • IntelliDose
  • MediTech PCI
  • Cerner PharmNet
  • Kronos
  • iMed Consent

Registration Procedures
  • Training calendars are distributed to all employees with access to any of our systems, 3 months in advance in order to provide departments' ample time for scheduling.
  • Registration forms for training classes shall be submitted to the CET Training Team via fax at 305-243-7355 or email at umcettraining@med.miami.edu .

    Please note that a separate form is required for each staff member being registered.
  • Each individual who requires training shall be formally registered for class.  An employee will not be permitted to attend if he/she has not been registered prior.
  • Prerequisites must be taken prior to the subsequent class. No exceptions will be made to required classes.
  • Registrations are taken on a first come, first served basis
  • Please indicate both a first and second preference for classes being requested.
  • Registration forms and calendars may be obtained either through our website or by calling the CET Training Department at 305-243-3665.

Course Prerequisites
  • Please refer to the Course Catalog's course tracks to determine the sequence and classes your staff should attend. 
  • If you have any questions on course prerequisites, please call the CET Training Department at 305-243-3665.


Confirmations
  • Confirmations will be emailed to the department contacts for distribution to staff no later than 48 hours after the registration is received. 
  • If you do not receive your confirmation within this time frame, please call the CET Training Department immediately at 305-243-3665.


Cancellation/Rescheduling Procedures
  • Individuals may be cancelled and rescheduled from their respective training classes.  All cancellations must be done, via email to umcettraining@med.miami.edu.
  • Cancellations should be made at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled date and time of class.  In addition, rescheduling must be done via the registration form.
  • Please keep in mind that courses require set-up work on the part of the trainer.  We ask for your cooperation in canceling or rescheduling in a timely manner.


System Access
  • System access will be granted to those individuals who have successfully completed the appropriate training classes.
  • System access request forms must be completed by the supervisor and faxed to the CET Security Administrator (305-243-7355) subsequent to the individual completing the training class.
  • The access forms for most of our courses may be obtained online at http://www.miami.edu/forms, click on the UMMG link and a list of the system access forms is displayed.

No Shows
  • No Shows will not automatically be rescheduled for the next class.
  • If a user is a no-show, a new registration form must be submitted to reschedule the course.
  • If the course is a pre-requisite, the employee will be canceled for all subsequent courses.

Coaching
  • CET Training offers tutoring / coaching sessions for employees needing additional help after attending a training session.
  • To schedule a session please have your supervisor call the CET Training Office at
    305-243-3665.



Virtual Office Hours
CET Training offers Virtual Office Hours to help answer any questions users may have on system functionality.  Call during our office hours for questions on using GE-IDX Flowcast applications, UM RIS/PACS and IntelliDose.  Chat with instructors who are experts in these systems.

Office hours are: Mondays - Wednesdays - Fridays 1:30 PM-2:30 PM
