UM Staff use the ESMG indirectly to:
 
  • Obtain the data processing for UMMG’s business, hospital, and clinical systems – the UMCET applications. While these activities are most often transparent to our customers, this is a mission-critical function to ensure maximum availability of the university’s applications and patient data.
CORE Team Application Management is enhanced by:
 
  • Infrastructure resources to enable implementation of UMCET applications
  • Receiving support from ESMG for our business, clinical, health information management and research teams and customers
Patient care is enhanced by:
 
  • Continuous availability of electronic tools, applications that enable the clinicians and staff to delivery patient care
Our dedicated ESMG team includes the following expertise:
 
  • The team members proficiency across multiple server platforms and database systems including
    • Windows
    • Unix
    • OpenVMS
    • Oracle
    • MS SQL Server
    • Cache
  • Certifications: CISSP, MCSE, CCNP, CNE
Internal services for the UMCET Core teams
 
  • Ensure the myriad of systems meets or exceeds security regulations, availability, capacity, and performance requirements on a daily basis by:
    • Managing hardware, middleware, and operating systems
    • Monitoring system performance
    • Managing operations and production in our data center
    • Preparing testing, monitoring and planning activities that proactively address potential operations issues and ensure maximum systems up-time
  • Disaster Recovery - UMCET has instituted a Disaster Response Team which will coordinate the disaster planning and recovery process in the event of a situation in which UM encounters a physical or natural event. The disaster response team includes resource expertise for:
    • Suspension of Normal Business Operations
    • Damage Assessment
    • Support and management for Main Disaster Recovery Site
    • Support and management of Alternate Disaster Recovery Site
    • Disaster Recovery Management
    • Resumption of Normal Business Operations
